Why can't we use public money for study tours, asks K'taka MLA

Bangalore, Dec 27: BJP MLA Lakshman Savadi justified the use of public money for junkets. "People's money is used for everything, so why no for study tours"?, he asked. He said that the tour will go on after the state's financial condition improves.

"Aren't official meetings in a star hotel wastage of money?", asked Lakshman.

The 16-day long junket planned for Karnataka MLAs was postponed after the media outcry. The MLAs were planning to visit three Latin American countries in the trip, which was described as a 'study tour'. The MLAs said the trip is needed as a 'much needed break from their tiring schedule".

Reportedly, 65 taluks in Karnataka are reeling under drought.
