Why 4 States Results Will Impact The INDIA Alliance Dynamics?

The INDIA alliance are eagerly looking forward to the election results of four states as the Congress' performance is expected to affect the dynamics in the opposition alliance. This is because the outcome will give a boost to the preparations to take on the BJP in the 2024 general elections.

Although parties such as the TMC, AAP, and SP expressed eagerness to have early discussions on seat-sharing, the Congress has opted to postpone the deliberations until the results of the assembly polls are out. This strategic move by the grand old party was aimed at securing greater negotiating leverage in seat-sharing discussions, anticipating positive results in the polls, according to a report in PTI.

After the results are out on Sunday, hectic political activities are set to commence, with a primary emphasis on conducting further discussions with regional stakeholders to address divergences, engage in seat-sharing negotiations, and collaboratively advance towards defeating the BJP in 2024, the news agency reported citing sources.

Leaders of opposition parties have already called on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to take the lead in uniting everyone to bolster the INDIA bloc, setting aside any internal differences, in the pursuit of countering the BJP effectively.

Going by the exit poll results, the Congress is expected to make gains in these elections. The grand old party is ahead in Chhattisgarh and Telangana and has a tight race in Madhya Pradesh. While Congress leaders argue that the opposition alliance of 26 parties is only for Lok Sabha polls, leaders of regional parties have shown some resentment during these assembly polls where they were ignored in seat sharing.

The Congress maintained that the contest in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan was primarily between the Congress and the BJP, while it was also the main contender against the BRS in Telangana.
