Who will inherit Jayalalithaa’s huge assets?

Chennai, Dec 7: J Jayalalithaa, who passed away on Monday after suffering a massive cardiac arrest, has left behind properties worth crores.

According to the declaration Jayalalithaa made during the May 2016 assembly elections, her total assets were worth Rs 113.73 crore, which included Rs 10.63 crore worth of bank deposits, investments in five firms amount to Rs 27.4 crore and jewellery collection valued at Rs 41.63 crore, to name a few.

The value of Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden residence in Chennai is pegged at Rs 43 crore.

Surprisingly, for some who owned so much has left no will behind.

Jayalalithaa had minimal to no contact with her next of kin for nearly two decades.

This makes it a real possibility that her wealth could be inherited by her close friend and aide Sasikala Natarajan.

Speculations are rife that Sasikala might be choosen as the next general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), which lies vacant in the aftermath of Jayalalithaa's demise.
