UP Live: Yogi Adityanath named CM designate for UP

There is palpable tension outside the BJP's office in Lucknow where the legislator's party meet is being held. Demonstrations were held by the Keshav Prasad Maurya and Yogi Adityanath camps demanding that their leader be made the chief minister.

Manoj Sinha skipped a railways function presided by Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu in Mumbai. He is in Lucknow to attend the meeting and sources say that he is the most likely person to be made the UP CM.

5:22 pm: The BJP legislature meeting is about to begin. Minister Kalraj Mishra also in Lucknow.

5:20 pm: Prior to the BJP meet, leaders Yogi Adityanath, Bupendra Yadav, Om Mathur, Keshav Maurya and Sunil Bhansal held separate meeting.

5:16 pm: Venkaiah Naidu holding meeting with Aditynath, Maurya and Anupriya Patel at the VVIP guest house.

5:10 pm: BJP leaders Yogi Adityanath and Keshav Prasad Maurya yet to arrive at BJP office. Central observers to join meeting.

5:08 pm: More names come up as front runners for the post of CM. Senior BJP leader Swatantra Singh's name too doing the rounds.

5:06 pm: Chief secretary Rahul Bhatnagar of UP has issued a circular to government employees to be punctual to work from March 20. He says that work should be completed on time failing which action will be taken. The UP government is about to be formed and the government policies should be fulfilled on time, he also says.

5:00 pm: The name of Mahesh Sharma too is being discussed for the name of deputy CM

4:53 pm: Adityanath to be UP CM. Keshav Prasad Maurya and Mahesh Sharma to be deputy CMs?

4:42 pm: Keshav Prasad Maurya and Om Mathur have landed in Lucknow. They will take part in the meet.

4:37 pm: Meanwhile NDTV reports that Yogi Adityanath to be the next CM of Uttar Pradesh.

4:33 pm: The BJP meet is about to commence shortly. Sources say that Manoj Sinha is most likely to be announced at the CM candidate.
