Who Was Punjab Gangster Sukhdool Singh Alias Sukha Duneke?

Sukha Duneke, known as Sukhdool Singh, hails from the Davinder Bambiha gang based in Moga district, Punjab, India. Recent intelligence reports from Canada suggest that he was shot dead during an inter-gang rivalry on a Wednesday night. This incident bears a resemblance to the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a known terrorist, who was also caught in the crossfire of inter-gang warfare in Surrey on June 19, where he fell victim to around 15 bullets.

Sukha Duneke's history reveals that he had sought refuge in Canada in 2017, using fraudulent documentation to escape legal troubles in India. Notably, he had seven criminal cases registered against him, making him a notable figure within the criminal landscape.

Duneke was actively involved in the Khalistan movement within Canada.

Simultaneously, the State Police in Punjab have launched crackdowns targeting both gangsters and individuals associated with the Khalistani cause.

Reports indicate that Sukha Duneke, categorised as a "Category A" gangster originating from Moga in Punjab, had close ties with the terrorist Arshdeep Dalla alias Arsh Dalla's gang.

Intelligence reports reveal that Sukha Duneke played a substantial role in providing support, financing, and bolstering the operations of the Davinder Bambiha gang across regions encompassing Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan. While displaying an inclination towards pro-Khalistan organisations, his primary focus remained on activities such as extortion calls and contract killings, commonly referred to as 'supari' killings.

Duneke orchestrated a multitude of criminal endeavors in Punjab and its neighboring states through his network of associates, consequently earning him a prominent position on the most-wanted list. His involvement extended to over 20 cases of murder and various other grave crimes in the region. One such sinister plot involved a scheme to assassinate kabaddi player Sandeep Singh Nangal during a kabaddi match held in Mallian village, Jalandhar, on March 14 of the previous year.

It is important to note that more than 20 criminal cases, encompassing charges of murder and other serious offenses, were registered against him in Punjab and adjacent states.

Furthermore, he is among the 43 gangsters featured on the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) list, identifying individuals with connections to the Khalistan movement in Canada.This list comprised individuals involved in acts of terror and gangsterism against India.

Sukha held the 33rd position on the NIA's list of 43 wanted criminals, with 29 of them originating from the Punjab region.

The NIA had posted the following message on X: "Individuals depicted in the photos below are accused in NIA Cases RC-38/2022/NIA/DLI or RC-39/2022/NIA/DLI.
