OpenAI has hired its first employee in India, according to a report published in Bloomberg. The report said Open AI has appointed 39-year-old Pragya Misra to take care of government relations, at a time when the country is celebrating the festival of democracy. Her role would be to manage relations between the company and government top brass. Notably, AI governance is gaining momentum in India and this strategic move may result in a landmark decision.

Who is Pragya Misra?

Pragya Misra is an experienced public relations officer who comes with a bag full of rich experience. She was earlier associated with Truecaller as the Director of Public Affairs. During her work journey, Pragya's KRAs were to collaborate with government bodies and officers, deal with stakeholders, attract and bring more investors, and handle media to boost the company's business.

Before Trucaller, Pragya Misra worked with Meta Platforms Inc. for three years, where she spearheaded WhatsApp and played a significant role in combating the spread of fake news and misinformation.
