Who Is Nitin Nabin? BJP Appoints Bihar Minister as National Working President

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday announced the appointment of Bihar minister Nitin Nabin as its National Executive President, marking a key organisational change at the top level of the party.

The decision takes effect immediately and comes at a time when the BJP is reworking its leadership structure following the completion of JP Nadda's extended tenure as national president.

An official order confirming the appointment was issued by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh, stating that the decision had been approved by the party's Parliamentary Board.

BJP Announces Nitin Nabin's Appointment

According to the official order, the party's highest decision-making body cleared Nitin Nabin's elevation to the national post.

"The BJP Parliamentary Board has appointed Shri Nitin Nabin, Minister, Government of Bihar, as the National Executive President of the Bharatiya Janata Party," the order stated.

Nitin Nabin is currently a minister in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government and holds the Road Construction portfolio. His appointment is being seen as part of the BJP's broader effort to strengthen its organisational leadership ahead of upcoming political challenges.

Leadership Transition in the BJP

The appointment comes as the BJP transitions its top leadership. Incumbent national president JP Nadda was appointed to the post in January 2020 and has since completed his original term. He was given multiple extensions to guide the party through crucial political phases, including the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

With the party now moving toward a refreshed leadership structure, Nitin Nabin's elevation signals a greater role for experienced state leaders at the national level.

Who Is Nitin Nabin?

Nitin Nabin is a senior BJP leader from Bihar with a long political lineage. Born in Patna, he is the son of late Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, a veteran BJP leader and former MLA. He entered active electoral politics after his father's demise and gradually built a strong base within the party.

He represents the Bankipur Assembly constituency in Patna and is regarded as one of the BJP's most consistent performers in the state. Nabin is a five-time MLA, having first entered the Bihar Assembly in 2006 through a by-election from Patna West.

Strong Electoral Track Record

Nitin Nabin went on to win four consecutive Assembly elections from Bankipur in 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025. In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, he secured a decisive victory by defeating Luv Sinha, son of actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha.

In the most recent Assembly polls, Nabin once again registered an emphatic win from Bankipur, defeating his nearest rival by a margin of over 51,000 votes. His consistent electoral success and administrative experience are seen as key factors behind his elevation to a major national role within the BJP.
