Who Is Nayab Singh Saini?

This question was in everyone's mouth after reports suggested that BJP and JJP have parted ways in Haryana, and he will take over as the new chief minister. Nayab Singh Saini, the front runner for the Chief Minister's post, is a member of the Lok Sabha from Kurukshetra constituency and also the chief of BJP's state unit.

In 2010, Nayab Singh Saini emerged victorious by 3028 votes against Ramkishan Gurjar in the Naraingarh constituency. In 2014, Saini retained his seat and was promoted to the state cabinet minister's position.

Later in 2019, he was elected as a Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra.

Keeping Nayab Singh Saini's loyalty towards the party and his popularity among people, especially the OBC category, and the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, party high-command may give reigns of the state to him.

BJP's pick has been described as a tactic to get support from the Saini caste, which is around 8% in Haryana with a sizable presence in pockets of Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Hisar, and Rewari districts.

Nayab Saini is said to be very close to former Chief Minister ML Khattar, who might present his name as his successor. Reports added that Nayab Saini may take oath today at 5 pm in the state capital.

Reports said the BJP will now form a government in the state with the support of independent MLAs.

Talking to the media, independent MLA Nayan Pal Rawat said that this alliance was about to break as things were not good between BJP and JJP. However, independent Lawmakers would continue to support the BJP.

Another independent MLA Dharampal Gonder said the independent MLAs were, are, and will be in support of the BJP-led government.
