Who Is Dr Jaiteerth Joshi? Director General At BrahMos
Dr Jaiteerth R. Joshi, a prominent figure in India's missile development, has taken on the role of Director General at BrahMos. This organisation is known for its supersonic cruise missile system. His appointment aligns with India's aim to enhance its defence capabilities and lessen reliance on foreign technology.
Dr Joshi's career spans over three decades, marked by significant contributions to defence technology innovation. As Programme Director of the Long Range Surface-to-Air Missile (LRSAM), he improved the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier's combat readiness, boosting maritime operations. His work supports India's Make in India initiative by focusing on indigenisation.

Leadership in Defence Technology
Dr Joshi is celebrated for his leadership in designing advanced missile systems. He played a crucial role in developing the LRSAM and Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM). These systems are now vital to the Indian Navy and Air Force, enhancing tactical defence capabilities.
His efforts have been instrumental in aligning India's missile programme with national initiatives. At DRDL, he fostered collaboration among academia, industry, and research bodies to strengthen the nation's defence R&D ecosystem.
Commitment to Skill Development
Beyond research, Dr Joshi has influenced skill development as an AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professor. He guided engineering students transitioning from academia to defence research. In non-destructive testing (NDT), he trained professionals in radiography, ultrasonic testing, and welding technology through roles in ISNT and the Indian Institute of Welding.
Dr Joshi's decorated career includes awards like the DRDO Scientist of the Year Award and Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Award. A Distinguished Alumnus of NIT Warangal, he holds Fellowships with prestigious bodies such as the Royal Aeronautical Society, London, and the Indian National Academy of Engineering.
The Future at BrahMos
In his new role at BrahMos, Dr Joshi will oversee operations during a critical period. The organisation aims to advance India's missile technology while exploring export opportunities. Experts believe his leadership will fortify BrahMos' position as a cornerstone of India's strategic defence capabilities.
