Who Is Akash Anand? BSP Chief After Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati named her nephew Akash Anand as her political heir. The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh decided after a key meeting with top leaders, in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Akash Anand, who helped Mayawati plan her campaign during the 2019 Lok Sabha election, is serving the party as a national coordinator. For now, Mayawati will continue to serve as BSP national president, but keeping her ill health in mind, the BSP supremo announced her political successor.

Mayawati has been representing and raising the voice of the backward in Indian politics. Quoting BSP Chief Mayawati, party top leader Udayveer Singh said "She has named Anand to be her heir," he said.

Who Is Akash Anand?

Akash Anand, nephew of Mayawati, will be the next party chief. He has been rewarded for his crucial role as party in-charge. He helped the party to fight a good election in the recently concluded assembly polls in Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Mayawati's decision will help the party to prepare and woo the Dalits, religious minorities, OBCs, and tribals for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

The 22-year-old made his political debut in 2017 during a political rally in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur. He is an MBA graduate from London. In 2019, Akash addressed his first political rally from the dias of Mahagathbandhan, when the party was contesting against the Congress and the BJP.

Akash Anand is a son of Mayawati's brother Anand Kumar and has been politically groomed by Mayawati herself. BSP's young gun has been calling himself a supporter and follower of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar and stands for Education, Empowerment, and Equality.

Making bold moves, Akash launched new strategies for the party including a 14-day 'Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay' Sankalp Yatra to connect with the people on the ground, and will try to make a big change in the party's position in the Lok Sabha elections slated for next year.
