When Will Renault Launch Kwid E-Tech EV In India?

French automaker Renault has officially entered the compact EV race by revealing the Kwid E-Tech, an all-electric version of its popular hatchback, in Brazil. The vehicle, which shares its platform with the Dacia Spring EV, is confirmed for an Indian launch where it will go head-to-head with established rivals like the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3.

Futuristic Design and Rugged Appeal

The Renault Kwid E-Tech sports a modern and distinctive look. The front is characterized by a closed-off grille featuring the new Renault logo and striking Y-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), a design element borrowed from the upcoming next-generation Duster. Projector headlamps are neatly integrated into the rugged front bumper, giving the car a robust stance.

While the side profile retains the familiar Kwid silhouette, it is enhanced with stylish 14-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and thick side cladding. The rear is equally contemporary, with Y-shaped LED taillights completing the updated aesthetic.

A Tech-Focused and Premium Cabin

Inside, the Kwid E-Tech receives a significant overhaul. The dashboard is now dominated by a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The driver is greeted by a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and convenience is prioritized with features like automatic climate control, a height-adjustable steering wheel, and multiple USB-C charging ports. A sleek, console-mounted e-shifter replaces the traditional gear lever, adding to the cabin's modern feel.

Powertrain, Range, and Charging

At the heart of the Kwid E-Tech is a 26.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which Renault claims will deliver a practical range of 230 to 250 km on a full charge. The vehicle is powered by a 65 bhp electric motor that produces 113 Nm of torque, ideal for city commuting.

Charging is versatile and efficient:

30 kW DC Fast Charging: 15% to 80% in just 40 minutes.

7.4 kW AC Wallbox: 15% to 80% in under 3 hours.

Standard 2.3 kW Charger: A full charge takes approximately 9 hours.

Advanced Safety and India Launch

Renault has packed the Kwid E-Tech with an impressive suite of safety features. It will be equipped with 6 airbags, ESP, hill-start assist, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Crucially, it will also feature an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), offering functions like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning.

The Renault Kwid E-Tech is expected to make its debut in India early next year (2026), with production slated for the Renault-Nissan facility in Chennai. It is anticipated to be priced competitively in the ₹9 lakh to ₹12 lakh range.
