When Will It Rain In Delhi-NCR? IMD Predicts Rain, Thunderstorms After Days Of Intense Heat

After days of intense heat and uncomfortable weather, residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) may soon get some relief. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds across Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad over the next few days.

The change in weather is expected to bring down temperatures and provide respite from the scorching summer conditions that have affected the region.

Rain And Thunderstorms Likely Till Thursday

According to the IMD, Delhi-NCR is likely to experience cloudy skies, gusty winds and isolated rain showers from Monday onwards. Light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in several parts of the region till Thursday.

The weather department has indicated that the rainfall activity may not be widespread, but even isolated showers could help bring down temperatures and improve outdoor conditions.

Residents are also expected to experience stronger winds, which may add to the cooling effect and make the weather more pleasant than it has been in recent days.

What Is Causing The Change In Weather?

Several weather systems are currently influencing conditions across North India. A fresh western disturbance has formed over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu, while an induced cyclonic circulation has developed over Uttar Pradesh.

In addition, active troughs extending across northern and central parts of the country are contributing to changing weather patterns.

These systems are helping increase moisture levels in the atmosphere, creating favourable conditions for rainfall and thunderstorms across Delhi-NCR and nearby regions.

Temperatures Expected To Fall

The weather department has predicted a gradual decline in daytime temperatures over the coming days. Maximum temperatures across Delhi-NCR are expected to drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during the next four days.

On Sunday, Delhi recorded maximum temperatures between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius, while warm conditions continued through the night.

The minimum temperature is expected to remain largely unchanged over the next 24 hours. However, after that, nighttime temperatures may decrease by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, offering some relief from the humid and warm nights.

The expected rainfall and thunderstorms are likely to ease the heatwave-like conditions that many residents have been facing. While the region may not witness heavy rainfall, the combination of clouds, rain and strong winds is expected to make the weather more comfortable.
