When PM Modi congratulated Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa
New Delhi, May 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Jayalalithaa for assuming office and becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the fifth time.
"PM @narendramodi congratulates Jayalalithaa ji on taking oath as CM of Tamil Nadu and conveys his best wishes to her & her team," said a post on the PMO Twitter.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at Madras University Centinary Auditorium. Other Tamil actors present were Siva Kumar, Karthi, Sarath Kumar, Vivek, Arjun, Prabhu, Vikram and Ramarajan among others.

The AIADMK had won the 2011 assembly elections and Jayalalithaa was subsequently sworn-in as the chief minister. Last September, she was disqualified after a Bengaluru court sentenced her to a four-year jail term and fined her Rs.100 crore in an 18-year old disproportionate assets case.
The Karnataka High Court upheld her appeal and acquitted her of all charges.
