When miscreants tried to sully PM Modi's image by a 'fake tweet'

New Delhi, April 15: Social media is abuzz with a fake tweet quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in the Germany on Tuesday. It is being seen as an attempt to malign PM Modi's image.

The tweet said,"My love for Germany goes decades back. When I was a small boy in Guj my only friend was a German Shepherd:PM #ModiInGermany."

The tweet about Modi allegedly went out from ANI handle. After the outrage, ANI later clarified that it was not done by news agency and it was 'doctored'.

Reportedly, Aam Aadmi party social media head Ankit Lal re-tweeted the purported 'tweet on Modi' .

Taking a dig at PM, Lal wrote on twitter, "Narendra Modi saheb, kyun desh ki izzat ko dhul-mitti kar rahe ho? Soch kar bola karo."

Clarifying that the fake tweet was not done by any of the employee of ANI, it lodged a police complaint later in the day.

"This is a photoshopped tweet. ANI has got nothing to do with it. Legal action will be taken against those responsible", the agency said after the tweet went viral.

"We have been subjected to a fake tweet and keeping with the provisions of law, we have filed a complaint with the cyber cell of the EOW," Editor-in-Chief of ANI Sanjiv Prakash said.

A top police official said it was inquiring into the matter.
