When an earthquake prediction by Kerala professor shook Pakistan’s ISI
On August 20, the professor, Babu Kalayil had warned that multiple earthquakes will hit the Indian Ocean by December 31.
Did the ISI take a letter written by a Kerala based physics professor seriously and issue an earthquake warning? Recently the ISI was in the news after it issued an earthquake alert.

On August 20, professor, Babu Kalayil had warned that multiple earthquakes will hit the Indian Ocean by December 31. In a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he had said that eleven countries including India, China Pakistan, Japan would be affected. He further warned about the possibility of a SEESHMA storm during this period which would exist for about 120 km to 180 km.
A report in BBC Urdu said that the officials in Pakistan had taken this warning by Kalayil seriously. Pakistan's ERRA even circulated a letter on the social media directing officials to be prepared. The letter by ERRA referred to an alert by the DG ISI about a large-scale earthquake that could be expected.
