When a rat forced Air India flight to make emergency landing

New Delhi, July 31: Air India international flight on Thursday, July 30, had to make an emergency landing, due to a rat.

Air India flight, AI-123 took off at around 2 pm and was flying from Delhi to Milan in Italy, but it had to make an emergency landing at around 5 pm.

200 people were on-board the flight. When some passengers and crew members noticed the rodent, it led to a panic situation. The pilot, then diverted the flight back to Delhi, where passengers alighted safely.

Another flight was arranged to send the stranded passengers.

At the time of the incident, the Dreamliner was flying over Pakistani airspace.

An Air India spokesperson was quoted saying as to the TOI, "The Delhi-Milan flight on Thursday returned to Delhi due to a suspected rat sighting. Though the presence of the rodent was not confirmed, keeping passenger safety in mind, the aircraft was brought back. AI gives utmost importance to safety. Our engineering team is investigating the incident. However, the aircraft will be fumigated as per procedure."
