What we know about the pistol used in Ahmed-Ashraf murder

The Uttar Pradesh Police looking into the sensational murder of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in full media glare on Saturday night, have found that assailants used a Turkey-made Zigana pistol to eliminate the gangster.

According to the police, the three men, Lovlesh Tiwari, Arun Maurya and Sunny Singh, a small-time criminals used Zigana F (automatic) and a Girsan 9MM parabellum (Regard MC) pistol to kill Atif. The pistol was illegally imported to India through Pakistan, according to News18 report.

Notably, the same pistol was also used kill Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala.

The Zigana pistol is a semi-automatic handgun produced by the Turkish firearms manufacturer Tisas Trabzon Arms Industry. It is also known as the Zigana series or Zigana F, which stands for "Golden Horn" in Turkish.

The Zigana pistol is designed for civilian and military/police use and is known for its ergonomic design, reliable performance, and affordable price point.

The country made pistol has gained popularity in Turkey and other countries as a reliable and affordable option for civilian self-defense, as well as for military and law enforcement use.

During the questioning, the killers have confessed to the crime, saying that they killed Atif and his brother to become popular.

According to the police they were hatching plans to kill the gangster but did not get any chance. This time when they got a chance they committed this crime.

The killers had checked into a hotel in Prayagraj 48 hours before the crime, and posed as journalists to reach out to Atif.

The brothers, both jailed in Prayagraj, were in handcuffs when they were shot dead in full view of camera crews around 10 pm.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a high-level probe into the murder of the gagster. The Opposition have attacked Yogi Adityanath over the law and order situation in the state.

Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been imposed in all districts of Uttar Pradesh to maintain law and order.
