Here is what we know so far:

  • Saifi was nabbed in a joint operation by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad and Central Intelligence agencies.
  • He was nabbed after the Kerala police shared information of his location based on the mobile phone data.
  • Saifi hails from Noida in Uttar Pradesh and is 24-years old.
  • The police had released his sketch, based on the information given by the eye-witnesses.
  • The Kerala police are in Ratnagiri. The suspect would be handed over to them, following which he will be taken back to Kerala for questioning.
  • A police team had also reached Shaheen Bagh in Delhi, based on the diary entries of the suspect. They were verifying his address.
  • Railway minister Ashwani Vaishnav has thanked the Maharashtra government and police for nabbing the suspect.
  • A woman, an infant and a man were killed in the incident. They had jumped off the train to avoid getting burnt.
  • Nine others had sustained injuries in the incident that took place at 9.45 pm on Sunday.
  • The Kerala police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). It has been found prima facie that the attack was a pre-planned one as the accused had with him petrol in his bag.
