What Really Happened To Zubeen Garg? Autopsy Reveals Surprising Details

The cause of singer Zubeen Garg's death has been officially confirmed. According to his autopsy report, Garg died due to drowning while swimming near a Singapore island, and not during a scuba diving session as was initially speculated.

The singer, who had travelled to Singapore to mark the 60th year of India-Singapore Diplomatic Relations and to participate in the India-ASEAN Year of Tourism celebrations, tragically passed away on September 19.

Singapore Police Findings

Weeks after the incident, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) shared a copy of Garg's autopsy report along with preliminary findings with the High Commission of India on Thursday. According to The Straits Times, the report clarified that Garg's death was caused by drowning, not scuba diving.

Authorities had earlier ruled out foul play in the Bollywood singer's death. Legal expert Ng Kai Ling, associate director at LIMN Law Corporation, noted that a coroner's inquiry may further explain the sequence of events that led to Garg's drowning.

Adding to this, several media outlets also reported that Garg's death certificate issued by a Singapore hospital listed the cause of death as drowning.

What Happened to Zubeen Garg?

On September 19, Zubeen Garg was rescued from the sea by Singapore police and rushed to a nearby hospital. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where doctors provided continuous monitoring and emergency treatment. Despite these efforts, he could not be revived.

Garg was in Singapore to attend the North East Festival, where he was scheduled to perform on the same day the incident occurred.

Death Probe and Arrests in India

Back in Assam, the CID's Special Investigation Team (SIT) is continuing its probe into the singer's death. Investigators have questioned several individuals linked to the case.

Earlier this week, the SIT detained North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and Zubeen Garg's manager Siddharth Sarma. Both were produced before a court and placed in 14-day custody.

According to PTI reports, the two have been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy, and causing death by negligence.
