Mumbai, April 6: 'Anandi' the girl child of popular TV serial 'Balika Vadhu' is no more. But what haunts her fans is why she committed suicide. For a serial that required a strong character to portray a girl fighting for her rights, she played it well. But what took the life of this go-getter?

Levying 'abetment of suicide charges' on Pratyusha's boyfriend and producer-Rahul Raj-her mother said that Pratyusha was continuously being tortured by his boyfriend- both physically and mentally.

Her parents had yesterday registered abetment of suicide, assault and intimidation charges on Rahul yesterday. Pratyusha's parents said that she was a top actor and was earning well when Rahul came to her life. "He lied to her about his properties....He took full control of her life. He used to beat and abuse her often. "

Her father further added Pratyusha had recently learnt that Rahul had a 9-year old son from an earlier relationship. Her parents said that Rahul had also threatened to dump Pratyusha if her parents lived with her. So on his behest Pratyusha started living with him and her parents were living at their hometown.

Meanwhile, the lawyer-Neeraj Gupta- who had planned to defend Rahul Raj backed off from the case today. He had earlier moved an anticipatory bail plea in court for Rahul.
