PM Modi announces Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana
After the announcement of the Prime Minister Suryodaya Yojana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on his X handle, stating, "Eternal energy from the radiance of the Sun Lord Shri Ram always reaches all the devotees of the world. Today, on the auspicious occasion of Zoological-Respecting in Ayodhya, a resolution was made that every Indian household will have its own rooftop solar system. Upon returning from Ayodhya, the first decision I have made is that our government will initiate the Prime Minister Suryodaya scheme with the objective of installing Rooftop Solar on one crore houses. This will reduce the electricity bills for the poor and middle class, and it will also contribute to India becoming self-reliant in the energy sector."
Who will be the beneficiaries?
The Prime Minister Suryodaya Yojana is set to be initiated for the benefit of the poor and middle-class citizens across the country. The scheme aims to encompass people residing in remote areas. Although the government has not issued specific directions about it at the moment, it is indicated that families with an income of less than 2 lakh rupees will avail the scheme's benefits. Initially, the scheme will cover one crore people. With the installation of solar panels, individuals will be relieved from the concern of electricity bills. The states where electricity costs are significantly high are expected to gain the most from this scheme.
