What Are TDP And JDU's Demands Before BJP To Support Modi 3.0? Here's The List

As the BJP found itself short of a majority in the Lok Sabha, its NDA allies are bargaining hard to get plum ministries.

In the Lok Sabha 2024, the BJP, which had won 303 in 2019, is reduced to 240, 32 short of the majority mark. However, its allies TDP and the JDU have helped the NDA comfortably cross the magic number of 272.

The results did not throw up the landslide victory the BJP-led NDA had hoped for and for the first time, Narendra Modi will have to run the coalition government in the Centre. Hence, the allies are bargaining tough.

Check out the list of demands by the BJP's allies:

TDP's Demands

• TDP, which has won 16 MPs, wants five ministerial berths.TDP sets eyes on a Minister of State post for Finance, and the Lok Sabha Speaker's post.
• TDP wants Roads, Panchayati Raj, Health and Education.

JDU's Demands

• The JDU, with 12 MPs in the Lok Sabha, wants two Cabinet berths and a Minister of State position.JDU set its eyes on the Railways Ministry
• JDU wants a Common Minimum Programme and a coordination committee to ensure coalition objectives.

JDS' Demand

• The JDS has secured two seats, but its transfer has helped the BJP in at least 6 seats. It is seeking the Agriculture ministry. In addition to it, the BJP has to accommodate the likes of Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, Chirag Paswan's LJP, Anupriya Patel's Apna Dal

Meanwhile, Narendra Modi is set to take oath as the Prime Minister of India on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremsinghe are expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Narendra Modi. Many other global leaders are likely to grace the historic occasion.
