West Bengal: TMC MP Imran under radar of Government agencies

Kolkata, Oct 27: Trinamool Congress MP Ahmad Hassan Imran, the blue-eyed boy of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is under scanner of Government agencies for his role in Saradha chit fund scam.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has recently interrogated Ahmed Hassan for the second time in connection with multi-crore Saradha scam. The agency was trying to figure out whether there was any underhand dealing with the Saradha Group besides his salary of Rs 70,000 per month which he used to receive from the tainted firm when he was a paid employee as an executive editor of 'Kalom', a Bengali newspaper.

Hassan owned the newspaper before selling off his shares to the Saradha Group at a consideration of around Rs two lakh, the sources said.

Not only this, Imran has also been under CBI scanner for the last few months, in fact, the Central probe agency also carried out raids at his residence on 28 August last year.

According to reports, Imran was born in Bangladesh and he came to India in 1971. But, Imran denied all such reports.

Imran, the editor of the Kolkata-based Bengali daily ‘Dainik Kolam, has a controversial bio data. According to reports, Imran was a frontline activist of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) during his students' days at Aligarh Muslim University. In the early eighties, he served as the president of SIMI and was simultaneously serving as the Amir-e-Halka (chief) of Jamaat-e-Islami in eastern India.

Hassan was sharing positive vibes with Jamaat leaders Delwar Hossain Sayeedi and Mir Kasen Ali, who were executed for War Crimes in Bangladesh.

Not only this, it is alleged that Ahmad Hassan Imran channeled huge amount of chit fund money to Jamaat-e-Islami and its front organisations between 2012 and 2013 to trigger anarchy in Bangladesh.
