West Bengal Govt Employees to Get DA Increase from April

In a significant announcement by the West Bengal government, state employees are set to receive a four per cent increase in their Dearness Allowance (DA) starting from April, a month earlier than the previously stated May. This decision was made public by an official from the state finance department, following Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya's declaration during the state budget. The adjustment means that employees will see this increment reflected in their salaries from June 1.

DA Hike for Bengal Govt Staff in April

This move narrows the gap between the DA provided by the central and the state government to 32 per cent. The announcement comes as a strategic step ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, signaling the government's commitment to enhancing employee welfare.

During an administrative review meeting at the state secretariat on Tuesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took proactive measures to ensure the swift completion of various development projects that were stalled due to the Lok Sabha elections. The Chief Minister's directive was clear – to expedite development work across the state and ensure timely completion.

Chief Minister Banerjee also emphasized the importance of accurately identifying eligible beneficiaries for the state housing scheme, Bangla Awas Yojana, through a fresh survey. This initiative underscores her dedication to ensuring that government schemes and allowances, especially those aimed at supporting elderly citizens, are delivered efficiently and reach those in need without delay.

With the rainy season approaching, Banerjee has instructed bureaucrats to prioritize the repair of dams and implement measures to mitigate crop loss and control dengue outbreaks. These directives highlight the state government's holistic approach to addressing both immediate and long-term developmental needs.

The West Bengal government's decision to advance the DA hike demonstrates its responsiveness to employee needs and its commitment to reducing disparities. Moreover, Chief Minister Banerjee's directives at the administrative review meeting reflect a concerted effort to push forward development projects and social welfare schemes, ensuring they benefit the intended recipients promptly. As West Bengal gears up for the upcoming rainy season, these measures are indicative of a government taking comprehensive steps to safeguard its citizens' interests and well-being.
