Governor CV Ananda Bose's Scheduled Visit to North Bengal's Flood-Hit Areas Coincides with TMC’s Raj Bhavan Chalo March
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose will be visiting the flood-ravaged areas of north Bengal on Thursday. His visit coincides with a protest march by Trinamool Congress against the non-release of funds by the central government. The governor is expected to take an aerial view of Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar districts.
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose is set to tour the flood-stricken districts in the northern region of the state on Thursday. This visit comes at a time when the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has planned a march to Raj Bhavan over issues related to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The governor's itinerary includes an aerial survey of severely affected areas such as Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar.
Addressing Immediate Needs

Bose, who arrived in New Delhi from Kochi on Wednesday evening, will be flying back to Kolkata early Thursday morning. Without any delay, he will proceed directly to North Bengal for assessing the damage caused by recent floods. A Raj Bhavan official reported that Bose firmly believes that addressing the situation in flood-hit regions should be given utmost priority.
Aerial Survey Planned
The governor is expected to conduct an aerial review of several districts including Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar during his visit. This would provide him with a comprehensive understanding of the extent and severity of flooding in these areas. After completing his inspection trip in North Bengal, Bose is scheduled to fly back to New Delhi on Thursday evening from Kolkata.
TMC’s Protest March Over MGNREGA Funds
In contrast with this urgent response towards natural disaster management, TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee announced a 'Raj Bhavan Chalo' march on Thursday afternoon. The protest aims at expressing their discontent against BJP-led central government's non-release of funds allocated under MGNREGA scheme for West Bengal State.
Cross-State Consultation For Better Understanding Of Flood Situation
In preparation for his upcoming visit and with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the flood situation in West Bengal, Governor Bose conversed with Governors of several neighbouring states including Sikkim on Wednesday. He believes that these discussions will provide him with additional insights into the current crisis and help him formulate effective strategies for relief and rehabilitation.
In conclusion, Governor CV Ananda Bose's visit to North Bengal is expected to bring much-needed attention to the devastating flooding situation in the region. His efforts towards understanding and addressing this natural disaster are commendable, especially amidst political tension over MGNREGA funds. The people of West Bengal anticipate constructive outcomes from his visit that would contribute towards their recovery from this calamity.
