West Bengal: Cong, Left Front members stage protest in assembly
The protest during the entire first-half of House proceedings.
Kolkata, Feb 16: The Congress on Thursday continued its protest demonstration inside the West Bengal assembly against the eviction of Leader of Opposition Abdul Mannan from the house by marshals last week.
The Left Front members also joined the Congress in the protest. With posters and placards, Congress and Left Front MLAs trooped in the well of the house and raised slogans in front of Speaker Biman Banerjee demanding an apology from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the entire episode.
They also demanded that the Speaker should also spell out the reasons behind the eviction of Congress MLA Pratima Rajak and continued their protest during the entire first-half of House proceedings.
Congress members boycotted the House in the second half, though some Left Front members were present. Mannan was taken ill in a scuffle during his eviction from the House last week and was hospitalised.
