West Bengal Initiates Campaign to Highlight Soil Threats from Pesticides

On World Environment Day, Kolkata witnessed the launch of a significant campaign by the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) aimed at raising awareness about the detrimental effects of pesticides on soil health. The initiative, as announced by WBPCB member secretary Rajesh Kumar, seeks to engage schools throughout the state in a concerted effort to educate students and their parents about the looming threat of soil degradation.

Rajesh Kumar emphasized the critical role of school teachers in disseminating this vital information, highlighting their position as effective communicators within the community. In a show of solidarity for environmental conservation, members of the Save Rabindra Sarobar forum formed a human chain around the iconic lake in south Kolkata.
