Ruckus forces Bengal governor to leave assembly without completing speech

Kolkata, July 02: Chaos erupted in the Bengal assembly on Friday afternoon as Governor Jagdeep Dhankar was making his speech.

The opposition BJP held up placards and shouted slogans as the Governor was making his speech. This forced the Governor to halt his speech just five minutes after he started. Due to the commotion, the Governor left the building while being escorted by Speaker Biman Banerjee.

West Bengal assembly session to begin from today with Governors address, likely to be stormy

Governor, Dhankar has been at loggerheads with the Chief Minister of Bengal, Mamata Banerjee for months now. On Thursday, the Trinamool Congress claimed that there were links between the fake vaccine organisers and Dhankar.

After Mamata Banerjee took oath for the third time as CM, the Governor raised the issue of violence and reminded her of her duty to control law and order in the state.

Meanwhile the assembly resumed at 3.30 pm, following which MLA Ashish Banerjee was appointed as the Deputy Speaker of the House.
