Weeks After Operation Sindoor, India Set To Conduct Mock Drills Again

After launching Operation Sindoor to target terror infrastructure in Pakistan and the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, India is ready to conduct mock drills again.

India will conduct civil defence mock drills in the states bordering Pakistan - Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Weeks After Operation Sindoor India Set To Conduct Mock Drills Again

On May 7, India conducted the mock drills in a bid to destroy the terror bases following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The activity was conducted at 244 districts, where in cities, observed blackout exercises, air raid sirens, evacuation protocols, and public awareness sessions.

On the other hand, the Haryana government is prepared to conduct a major state-wide civil defence exercise named Operation Shield' on May 29 in 22 districts.

As part of the operation, the armed forces carried out airstrikes on nine terror infrastructures, killing over 100 terrorists. Pakistan tried to retaliate but India successfully managed to neutralise Islamabad's large-scale drone and missile assaults.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that Pakistan is sweating already, although India has not taken any firm action on the Indus Water Treaty. India had suspended the treaty following the Pahalgam attack.

Addressing a gathering in Gandhi Nagar, Prime Minister said, "I want to tell the new generation how our country was ruined. If you study the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, you'll be shocked. It was decided that the dams built on the rivers of Jammu and Kashmir would not be cleaned. Desilting would not be done. The bottom gates for clearing sediments were to remain shut. For 60 years, these gates were never opened. Reservoirs that were supposed to be filled to 100 per cent capacity have now been reduced to only 2 per cent or 3 per cent..."

PM Modi claimed that India has not taken firm decision yet but people in the neighbourhood are "sweating". He said, "Right now, I haven't done anything and people are sweating there (Pakistan). We have opened small gates for cleaning the dams, and there is already a flood there..."
