Weather Update: IMD Issues Red Alert As Rains Continues To Lash Mumbai
Mumbai witnessed heavy rainfall on Thursday that caused flooding in suburban areas and slowed down traffic service in some parts of the city.
India Meteorological Department also reported that the city got its wettest July ever on Wednesday, with a record of 1557.8 mm rainfall.

However, the India Meteorological Department recently issued a red alert as the intensity of the rainfall can be increased in some places. Its Mumbai Centre forecast also predicted that torrential rain may occur in some isolated areas.
As per the IMD report, active monsoon conditions anticipate to persist over Konkan parts and the adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra within 2 to 3 days.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had earlier declared a holiday for schools and colleges on July 27 for the metropolis. Announcing the news, the official Twitter handle of the BMC said, "India Meteorological Department (Mumbai) has issued extremely heavy Rainfall warning (Red Alert) for Mumbai City and suburban area from 8 pm today till tomorrow afternoon".
