'We Are Working To Make India 'Viksit Bharat' By 2047', Says FM Nirmala Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting Union Budget 2024 in Parliament. This is an interim budget as it comes just ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections.

During the Budget speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the government's unwavering commitment to "Sabka Saath," emphasizing that over the past 10 years, 25 crore people have been lifted out of multidimensional poverty.

FSitharaman said the government is working to make India 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. "Our focus is sabka sath, sabka vikas," she said.

Reflecting on the challenges faced by the nation when Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014, Sitharaman credited the transformative philosophy of "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas" for overcoming these obstacles. Despite substantial hurdles, the government, under PM Modi's leadership, navigated through difficulties, paving the way for inclusive development.

The Finance Minister went on to provide a holistic overview of the Indian economy's remarkable transformation over the past decade. The period has witnessed profound changes, with the government's multifaceted efforts contributing to positive shifts in various sectors.

It must be noted that this marks Sitharaman's sixth Union Budget, with the comprehensive budget set to be presented by the incoming government post the elections.

The interim budget, serving as a short-term financial plan, seeks parliamentary approval for an upfront grant to cover the government's essential expenses for the initial four months of the upcoming financial year.

The Budget Session of Parliament commenced yesterday, featuring President Droupadi Murmu addressing a joint session of both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. The session is scheduled to conclude on February 9.

Today, stock markets opened on a positive note, anticipating the interim budget presentation by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the near future.
