, April 16: On Tuesday, the last day of the campaign for Lok Sabha elections, the coastal city of Mangalore witnessed the parties canvassing in high spirit.

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Oscar Fernandes, addressed a press conference in which he asked people to decide the fate of Narendra Modi, BJP's prime ministerial candidate.

"The issue of allegations against Modi is now in people's court. Election is a platform for the voters to decide his fate.​ Congress is raising the issue because it is plaguing in the minds of people", he said.

"Congress is not interested in attacking anybody over personal matters, but the issue of Modi's wife is also a matter of violating the rule of law. AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi commented on Modi's wife because the latter had declared his marital status for the first time​", he said.

​"​Congress is banking on the development works initiated by the UPA government in the last 10 years​. We are confident that we will win in all three constituencies in ​the ​coastal and Malnad belt, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi​, ​Chikmagalur and Shimoga in the ​upcoming Lok Sabha​ elections", said the minister.

The District women Congress held a padayatra in the city limits of Udupi, campaigning for Congress candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde.
