WB SET 2017 exam in December, how to apply before Aug 31

The General category applicants must have at least 55% score (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent degree in the appropriate subject from UGC recognized universities or institutions.

The WB SET 2017 exam will be held on December 3. The State Eligibility Test is being conducted by the WBCSC for determining the eligibility of candidates for appointment as Assistant Professor in institutions and universities of the state, as per the UGC guidelines. The online appliation process has already commenced from August 1 and will remain open till August 31.

How to apply:

The forms can be submitted only through online mode. Applications should be submitted at www.examinationonline.in. The general category applicants are required to pay 1,000 INR as application fee, while for the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC, and PWD) applicants, the fee is 500 INR.

The applicants can pay the fee through online mode or by e-challan generated during the submission of application form. In the case of e-challan, the applicants shall make payment at any branch office of the United Bank of India.

Eligibility:

The General category applicants must have at least 55% score (without rounding off) in Master's Degree or equivalent degree in the appropriate subject from UGC recognized universities or institutions. The minimum percentage requirement for reserved category candidates is 50%. The applicants who are in final semester or year with their results still awaited can also apply. Ph.D. degree applicants whom P.G. has been completed by 19th Sept 1991 will be given a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks for appearing in SET.

WB SET 2017 exam pattern:

West Bengal SET exam will be conducted for total 30 subjects. The test will be conducted at multiple centers in 20 cities. The applicants can choose from 20 test centres according to their preferences. The candidates will not be allowed to change their option for Test Centre later. The online admit cards will be provided two weeks before the examination date.

The test would comprise 3 objective papers. Paper 1 will have 60 questions, out of which the candidates will have to answer only 50 questions. Paper 1 will be of general nature to test reasoning ability and general awareness of the candidate. Paper 2 and 3 will have 50 and 75 questions respectively, based on the subject chosen by candidates. The Commission has uploaded the syllabus of West Bengal SET 2017 on its official web portal.

All the three papers of West Bengal SET 2017 exam will be conducted in a single day.

Paper 1 will be conducted from 9.30 am to 10.45 am, followed by Paper 2 from 11.15 am to 12.30 pm. Paper 3 will be conducted from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. Each question will carry 2 marks and there will be no negative marking in the test.

The minimum qualifying marks in each paper for general category is 40% and 35% for reserved category. As per the new guidelines of University Grants Commission (UGC), top 6% appearing applicants in all 3 papers will be declared qualified for the post of Assistant Professor said a report in examswatch.
