Wayanad Landslide: Meet Major Sita Shelke, Army Officer Who Led Bridge Building During Rescue Operation

Major Shelke and her MEG team achieved the incredible feat of constructing the bridge in just 31 hours, overcoming various obstacles like debris, uprooted trees, and a swiftly flowing river. Hailing from Gadilgaon Village in Ahmed Nagar, Maharashtra, Major Shelke leads the 'Madras Sappers' unit, known for their crucial roles in aiding the Army during wars and natural disasters like the 2018 Kerala floods.

Despite challenging weather conditions and limited space, Major Shelke and her team successfully completed the bridge, which is now vital for ongoing rescue efforts in the area.
