Wayanad ByPoll: Priyanka Gandhi To File Nomination In Presence Of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy
For the upcoming by-election in Kerala's Wayanad, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will file a nomination on Wednesday, October 23. Reports said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be joined by her brother and Leader of Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi, who won both his seats in Wayanad and Raebareli in Lok Sabha Elections 2024, vacate Wayanad and opted to be a Member of Parliament from Raebareli.
Rahul Gandhi had promised the people of Wayanad that a member of the Gandhi family will keep serving them after tendering his resignation. Priyanka Gandhi's mother and Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi along with Congress National President Malikarjun Kharge, and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will be present at the time of her nomination.

The Wayanad bypoll holds great importance for the Congress party. It marks Priyanka Gandhi's first electoral contest, and her candidacy is being heavily emphasised due to her ties with the influential Gandhi family. Rahul Gandhi previously won from Wayanad and Rae Bareli in the Lok Sabha elections but resigned from Wayanad to make way for Priyanka.
Congress Leadership's Strategic Move
Priyanka's nomination aims to strengthen Congress's foothold in Wayanad, a constituency that has traditionally supported the party. The United Democratic Front (UDF) has officially declared her candidacy. Prominent Congress figures like Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, along with party president Mallikarjun Kharge, are expected at the ceremony.
The by-elections for Wayanad and other constituencies are scheduled for November 13, with results announced on November 23. This election could see all three Gandhis-Sonia, Rahul, and Priyanka-serving in Parliament together for the first time.
Priyanka's Campaign Activities
As part of her campaign efforts, Priyanka will lead a roadshow in Kalpetta before filing her nomination. Her entry into active politics has excited party supporters, who have put up posters celebrating her as "Wayanadinte Priyankari" (Wayanad's beloved).
A day before Priyanka filed her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-poll, Rahul Gandhi expressed his support on Tuesday. "The people of Wayanad hold a special place in my heart," he said on X (formerly Twitter). "I can't imagine a better representative for them than my sister, Priyanka Gandhi."

"I'm confident she will be a passionate champion of Wayanad's needs and a powerful voice in Parliament," Rahul added. He urged people to join them at the roadshow from Kalpetta New Bus Stand at 11 AM before filing her nomination at noon.
