Water Quality Is Ok For Bathing: CM Yogi Assures Mahakumbh Devotees

A day after the Pollution Control Board raised concerns over the quality of the water at some Ghats during the ongoing Mahakumbh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has stepped up to say that Sangam water is safe for bathing.

A day ago, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee slammed UP Government over mismanagement and faecal bacteria reports, after which, CM Yogi has hit back stating "Any particular party or government does not organise this event-it belongs to society, while the government is only facilitating it."

According to the government data, 56 crore 26 lakh devotees have taken a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj till now. He highlighted that seven days of the festival remain, underscoring its significance and widespread participation.

Mahakumbh Stampede and Accidents

The Chief Minister expressed his condolences to those affected by the stampede on January 29 and to families of devotees who died in accidents while returning from their pilgrimage. "We pay tribute to them, and our thoughts are with their families. The government stands with them," he said, urging against politicising these incidents.

In a statement made during the UP assembly session, CM Yogi Adityanath pointed out that over 56.25 crore devotees had already participated in the holy dip at Prayagraj. He criticised baseless allegations and fake videos targeting Sanatan Dharma, Maa Ganga, India, or the Maha Kumbh as acts undermining the faith of millions.
