Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, had dinner with his party colleagues at Ahdoos restaurant in Srinagar, famous for its Kashmiri 'Wazwan' specialties.
Later, he enjoyed a fruit ice cream at Lal Chowk's famous Erina Ice Cream parlour. Elaborate security measures were deployed around the hotel, which offers a view of the Jhelum River.

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, was flanked by Congress party chief Mallikarjun Kharge. They were welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd upon their arrival in the eateries.
The Congress leaders are scheduled to chair a meeting with party workers and hold a press conference before heading to Jammu to meet with local leaders.

As the region gears up for the upcoming assembly elections, political activities have intensified, with both Congress and BJP exploring alliances.
The Congress leadership is expected to meet with the National Conference and the Peoples' Democratic Party, both members of the INDIA bloc. Meanwhile, BJP leader Ram Madhav is in Srinagar engaging with local leaders ahead of the polls.

The Election Commission of India has announced that the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections will be held in three phases, with polling dates set for September 18, 25, and October 1, and the results will be declared on October 4.
Jammu and Kashmir has over 87 lakh eligible voters, and the region has been without an elected government since June 2018.
