Watch: Man throws shoes at Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik in Bargarh; thrashed later

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday faced an unprecedented situation when an youth hurled shoes at him while he was addressing an election meeting at Bargarh district.

The incident happened when Patnaik was addressing a meeting at the village to woo the voters in favour of his party candidate Rita Sahu for the Bijepur by-poll, which is scheduled to be held on February 24.

His alert ssecurity personnel however, prevented the attack. However, the youth's identity is yet to be ascertained.

Police have initiated an investigation into the incident. The culprit was later thrashed and received injuries.

This isn't the first time, the Chief Minister was attacked with eggs by a woman while he was addressing a public meeting at Talsari in Bhograi block of Balasore district on January 31.
