The bag was found near the area where junior doctors have been staging protests since August 9. However, the protest site was empty at the time, as the demonstrations had recently relocated to Swasthya Bhavan in Salt Lake.
Visuals from news agency ANI captured the scene as the bomb disposal squad, assisted by sniffer dogs, conducted a thorough investigation of the suspicious package.
Despite the heightened alert, police have confirmed that no incriminating items have been discovered in the bag so far. "The bomb disposal squad is currently examining the bag," a police spokesperson stated.

Junior Doctors' Protest Cripples West Bengal Healthcare
Protests outside Swasthya Bhavan, which began on September 10, have drawn thousands of junior doctors from across West Bengal. They are demanding justice for their deceased colleague and major reforms in the healthcare system.
The protesters' key demands include the arrest of those responsible for the crime, the resignation of the police commissioner and state health secretary, as well as disciplinary action against former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh.
The healthcare sector in West Bengal has been severely affected, with junior doctors' cease work disrupting services across the state. Although the state government invited the doctors for talks, they insisted on the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and called for a live telecast of the meeting for transparency.
On Thursday, West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant extended a fresh invitation for discussions at 5 pm to resolve the deadlock surrounding the alleged rape and murder of the RG Kar hospital medic.
While the government agreed to Mamata Banerjee's participation in the meeting, it rejected the demand for a live telecast. Instead, the talks will be recorded to ensure transparency, allowing for accurate documentation of all discussions, as stated in the Chief Secretary's letter.
