Was Kolkata Doctor Really Killed In Seminar Hall? Father Raises Suspicion
Renovation work near the seminar room where a doctor's body was discovered has sparked protests by resident doctors. They are protesting against the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor from Kolkata. The father of the victim, who was found at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, suspects that his daughter might have been killed in another room before her body was moved to the seminar hall.

Speaking to reporters, the victim's father expressed doubts about the location of the murder. "We found lapses by the police and informed the CBI. We now doubt if she was murdered in the seminar hall. It might be that she was killed elsewhere," he said.
Allegations of Evidence Destruction
The father's remarks come amid allegations that renovation near the third-floor seminar hall of the chest department in the emergency building was ordered to destroy crucial evidence. On Friday, the Calcutta High Court questioned the Bengal government about the urgency of this renovation work.
The state government responded to these allegations by stating that the renovation was intended to build a restroom for doctors, not to destroy evidence. However, these claims gained traction after a violent mob stormed the hospital premises on Wednesday night, vandalising various departments.
CBI Investigation and Family's Faith
The father of the 31-year-old doctor, who was found semi-naked with multiple wounds on August 9, expressed faith in the CBI investigation. He demanded severe punishment for those responsible. "I want action to be taken against the hospital department. We have faith in the investigative team," he stated.
He also highlighted a broader movement for justice: "One of my daughters is gone, but I feel that thousands of crores of my sons and daughters are on the streets right now. There is a movement on this from Bangladesh to the entire world. We want justice," he added.
Suspicions About Hospital Staff
On Friday, PTI reported that the parents had informed CBI about their suspicions regarding several interns and physicians from RG Kar Medical College being involved in their daughter's murder. A CBI officer confirmed this: "The parents told us that they suspect the involvement of multiple persons behind the murder of their daughter. They have given names of a few interns and doctors who worked with her at the hospital."
The incident has led to widespread outrage and demands for justice, with many questioning whether proper procedures were followed during both investigation and renovation works at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The case continues to unfold as authorities investigate further into these serious allegations while addressing public concerns over safety and justice within medical institutions.
