Want US posting? 250-word essay also required: Govt to babus

New Delhi, Jun 26: A write-up of 250 words is one of the pre-requisites for getting a posting as Minister (Economics) at the Indian Embassy in the US.

A vacancy circular issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) lists this pre-requisite while inviting nominations for the key post in Washington DC from suitable officers below 54 years of age who have got vigilance clearance and fulfill other criteria.

Interested officers should not be under debarment from central deputation and they should have prior work experience in trade, commerce, industry, finance, foreign investment, export promotion, internal development cooperation etc., it said.

The officers, who possess prescribed mandatory qualifications and experience, need to send detailed bio-data, a write up of 250 words indicating why the candidate feels he or she is suitable for the position, confidential reports and vigilance clearance and integrity certificate, the DoPT circular said.

The post of Minister (Economics) in the Economic Wing of Embassy of India, Washington DC is a Joint Secretary-level appointment and under the Department of Economic Affairs.
