Ganaie was arrested after 360 kg of explosives were seized from his rented accommodation in Faridabad.
Ganaie Azad Shakil said, "Allegations are being made that some material was recovered from him. He has been working as a doctor in Delhi for the past three years. We are not being allowed to meet him. He visited home twice a year. He is unmarried... We have no knowledge of any such activity. There has been no case against any member of our family in the last fifty years."
Shakil claimed that they are nationalists despite their house coming under attack by stone pelters. "We are completely Indian and have taken stones for India. Anyone in the village can verify this," he said.
He then defended his arrested brother saying, "You can ask anyone about him. The allegations are serious, but we haven't been allowed to see him yet."
Shakil stated that Dr Muzammil had come home recently for his sister's wedding. However, the marriage has been cancelled in the wake of the unexpected developments. He further added that his elder brother had come to their house after his father had undergone surgery.
In a significant operation, police in Faridabad's Fatehpur Taga uncovered 2,563 kg of explosives hidden in 50 sacks at the residence of an imam. This imam is closely linked to Muzammil Shakeel, a doctor from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Shakeel is suspected to be a crucial member of the Jaish-e-Mohammad and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind terror networks.
The discovery followed another major find of 350 kg of explosives along with weapons on Sunday in Faridabad. The initial investigation suggests that the explosive material might be ammonium nitrate. Both locations where these materials were found had been rented by Shakeel.
Since Monday morning, police have been conducting raids at the home of Irfan, the mosque's imam. These actions are part of a broader investigation into the terror module linked to Shakeel. His arrest occurred 10 days prior when connections to Jaish-e-Mohammed were discovered.
A woman doctor employed at Al-Falah Medical College and Hospital was also detained after authorities found an assault rifle and a pistol in her vehicle. Her involvement came to light during Shakeel's interrogation. Interestingly, Shakeel was also associated with the same medical institution.
Earlier, Dr Adil Ahmad Rather from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh was apprehended for allegedly posting pro-Jaish-e-Mohammed posters in Srinagar. This arrest highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks operating within India.
