Voters strength increases by 3.3 percent in Puducherry
Puducherry, Jan 11: Union Territory of Puducherry has registered a 3.3 per cent increase in voters strength in all 30 Assembly constituencies in the union territory.
There are 23 constituencies in Puducherry, while one of its encalves Karaikal has five and one each in Mahe and Yanam.

Chief Electoral Officer of Puducherry V Candavelou told reporters here today after releasing the final electoral rolls list that special summary revision was held between September 15 and October 14 last year, keeping Jan 1, 2016 as qualifying date for inclusion of all those who had attained 18 years and also other eligible voters.
The total voter strength is now 9,27,128 in the UT. Women voters with a strength of 4,85,886 outnumber their male counterparts whose strength is 4,41,168. There are 74 voters coming under 'other gender category.
Candavelou said the strength of voters had increased by 29,612 during summary revision of the rolls. Puducherry and its outlying regions together had a strength of 8,97,516 earlier and this was taken as draft electoral rolls for summary revision.
The official said the voters list would continue to be updated from tomorrow and would go on till the last date to file nominations.
Electoral photo identity cards for newly enrolled voters would be issued at the premises used as polling booths in their respective constituencies from tomorrow.
First time voters in the age groups of 18 years would be handed the EPIC cards on January 25 during the celebrations of 'National Voters Day,' he said.
Earlier Puducherry District Collector D Manikandan handed the updated voters lists relating to Puducherry,Mahe and Yanam regions coming under his jurisdiction to representatives of various political parties at his chamber.
Karaikal is a separate district having a Collector.
