Election Officer Dismisses Sanjay Singh's Allegations on Voter List Deletions as Baseless

The district election officer in New Delhi dismissed allegations made by AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. Singh claimed that voter names were being deleted from the constituency where Arvind Kejriwal will contest. The officer stated these accusations were unfounded and incorrect, as shared on X.

Election Officer Rejects Singhs Voter Claims

Singh had approached the district election officer, who also serves as the district magistrate, to request details of those applying for voter name deletions. The AAP accused the BJP of submitting bulk applications to remove supporters of Kejriwal's party from the electoral roll across Delhi.

Election Commission Guidelines

The officer clarified that deleting names from the electoral roll follows strict verification processes according to Election Commission guidelines. Simply submitting a list does not initiate deletion. The process involves thorough checks by Booth Level Officers and other officials.

The Election Commission of India mandates that Form 7 summaries, listing objectors and objectees, are shared weekly with recognised political parties, including AAP, through Form 10. This information is also available on the CEO Delhi's official website for public transparency.

Specific Allegations Addressed

The officer highlighted two applications aimed at removing Sanjay Singh's wife, Anita Singh, from the voter list. Field verification confirmed her residence at the listed address, leading to both applications being rejected. An FIR was filed against those who wrongfully submitted Form 7.

Virendra Sachdeva, Delhi BJP president, accused AAP leaders of intimidating election officers to prevent fake votes from being removed in New Delhi. He alleged that fear of losing has caused panic within the Aam Aadmi Party.

Political Accusations

AAP claimed that BJP leaders supported individuals who filed applications to delete Anita Singh's vote. They alleged BJP attempted to manipulate the voters' list and filed applications to delete 5,000 names while adding 7,500 in New Delhi after the summary revision process ended last month.

Sanjay Singh accused BJP of targeting AAP voters in New Delhi by deleting names of residents living there for decades. He suggested that BJP might even demolish their homes and claim they never lived there.

The district election officer reiterated that all deletions comply with ECI norms to ensure electoral roll integrity. Allegations of deliberate deletion of genuine electors' names were deemed baseless and unsubstantiated.
