Jeet Adani Announces Massive AI Infrastructure Vision in Visakhapatnam, Says City Will Anchor India’s AI Revolution

Jeet Adani reveals plans to transform Visakhapatnam into a leading AI and digital infrastructure hub, highlighting energy sufficiency, data centre growth, and global partnerships. The initiative aims to reduce costs and accelerate AI adoption across India, positioning Visakhapatnam at the heart of the nation’s AI future.

Adani Group Director Jeet Adani on Tuesday unveiled an ambitious vision to transform Visakhapatnam into a major hub for India’s artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure ecosystem, saying the city is poised to become the centre of the country’s AI revolution.

Addressing a gathering attended by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, and state IT Minister Nara Lokesh, Jeet Adani said India’s future leadership in AI would depend not only on software innovation but also on building large-scale infrastructure powered by energy, connectivity and data systems.

He said India currently has around 1.3 GW of data centre capacity, while nearly 1 GW is being envisioned in a single location in Visakhapatnam, highlighting the scale of transformation underway. Calling energy the backbone of the AI era, Jeet Adani said artificial intelligence may be written in code, but it runs on electricity.

He added that power costs form the largest component in computing expenses, making affordable and reliable energy critical to scaling AI adoption. He said India has a structural advantage in this space and that Adani Group would play a key role in building the required ecosystem.

Jeet Adani also pointed to a strategic shift in India’s digital geography, noting that for decades major digital gateways were concentrated in Mumbai and Chennai. With the development of undersea cable landing infrastructure in Visakhapatnam, he said a new digital gateway is emerging that would redefine India’s global connectivity.

According to him, the move would improve access to global data flows, reduce latency and enable faster and more efficient AI workloads at scale. Praising the Andhra Pradesh government, he said the state under Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership is moving with speed and clarity to position Visakhapatnam at the centre of India’s AI future.

He further stated that just as Bengaluru became the symbol of India’s technology revolution, Visakhapatnam is set to anchor the country’s AI revolution. Jeet Adani also acknowledged partnerships with Google and other technology leaders, saying such collaborations would combine global technology leadership, connectivity at scale and integrated infrastructure capabilities.

He announced that the Adani Group has committed 100 billion dollars to build a platform that supports India’s AI growth. The investment will focus on integrated infrastructure across energy generation, transmission, digital networks and data centres powered by clean and reliable energy.

He said lower energy costs would reduce the cost of compute, model training and AI inference, making intelligence more affordable and accessible. Concluding his address, Jeet Adani said India will build the future, architect intelligence and democratise access to AI, adding that the journey begins in Visakhapatnam.
