The elderly woman can be seen distressed and pleading for mercy.

Soon after the video went viral, Rita's brother, Amardeep Singh, got to know about the atrocities and filed a complaint with the local police.

He accused his sister of subjecting their mother to physical and mental abuse in an attempt to coerce her into transferring property to Rita's name.

Amardeep told the media that Rita even forced her husband, Sanjay Punia, to move in with her and her mother, further complicating the domestic situation. Amardeep's allegations paint a grim picture of greed and maltreatment, claiming that Rita had previously sold a family property in Kurukshetra for Rs 65 lakh and was now targeting additional assets.

Responding to these serious allegations, the police have initiated legal proceedings against Rita. Inspector Sadhuram, the Station Head Officer of Azad Nagar Police Station, confirmed that a case has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. This legal action underscores the gravity of the accusations and the authorities' commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals from family members who may seek to exploit them for financial gain.
