Viral Video: Wedding Guests Gift Blue Drum, Mock Chilling Meerut Murder Case

A shocking incident during a wedding in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur has gone viral, sparking widespread outrage online. What began as a seemingly innocent wedding prank took a dark turn when guests gifted the newlywed couple a blue drum.

The bizarre gift reference stems from the notorious Meerut murder case, where Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput was allegedly killed by his wife, Muskan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil. The couple reportedly drugged Rajput, murdered him, and concealed his body in a blue plastic drum, filling it with cement to hide the crime. This chilling incident left the nation in shock.

In the recent wedding, the groom and bride were seated on stage when a group of friends approached them, holding a large blue drum. Initially, the couple looked confused, but the crowd soon burst into laughter. The video of the unsettling prank has since gone viral on social media.

The video, which was captioned in Hindi, condemned the tasteless joke, stating that such a gesture was inappropriate for a joyous occasion like a wedding. The caption loosely translated reads, "What could be a more tasteless joke than this! It can, by no means, be considered appropriate to recall a heinous massacre as a joke on a joyous occasion like a wedding. In the Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh, during a wedding, friends gifted the bride and groom a 'blue drum'."

The identities of the couple and the wedding guests have not been confirmed, but the video has sparked a debate about trivialising real-life violence. Many online users expressed their anger over the prank, with some calling it a mockery of a gruesome crime.

One social media user commented, "The world has become mentally ill, every street is making a mockery of this massacre. Only when it happens to oneself does one realise, when it's someone's own." Another added, "There are more foolish people in this world. What a manifestation."

Others remarked on the insensitivity of the prank. One comment read, "Whatever thoughts run through someone's mind, these friends of the groom, more like enemies, are expressing their base sentiments in the guise of jest." Another user posted, "The height of rudeness, such people cannot be friends."

This incident has left many questioning how far jokes and pranks should go, and whether it is ever appropriate to make light of serious, real-life events.
