The light-hearted scene unfolded during a difficult week for air travellers across India, with IndiGo confirming that more than 450 flights were cancelled on Monday alone, the seventh straight day of heavy disruption affecting passengers at airports nationwide and stretching airline operations.

According to IndiGo, the cancellations stem from a shortage of cockpit crew after new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) rules on pilot rest took effect; the government has now stayed this regulation, and the airline expects its schedule to normalise by December 10.
