Viral Video| Delhi-Srinagar IndiGo Flight Passengers Scream As Plane Experiences Heavy Turbulence
It was a shattering experience for passengers going from Delhi to Srinagar as their mid-air plane was hit by heavy turbulence. A panic-like situation had occurred for a minute before the pilot and airline staff calmed everyone.
Overhead compartments were shaking uncontrollably, and fear-stricken passengers were seen holding onto their seats for dear life.
This alarming episode was caught on camera, with the footage quickly spreading across social media platforms, showcasing the chaos and the audible distress among the 220 passengers onboard. Despite the turbulent conditions, the aircraft managed a safe landing, and, fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries following the incident.

An official from the Airport Authority of India disclosed that the IndiGo flight 6E2142 encountered adverse weather, including a hailstorm, on its journey. The pilot promptly notified the Air Traffic Control in Srinagar about the perilous conditions, ensuring the flight remained under close observation until it safely landed at 6:30 PM. Remarkably, all 227 passengers and the aircrew emerged unscathed from the ordeal, and the aircraft has been declared AOG, signifying it is temporarily out of service until further notice for safety or technical reasons.
Social media has been abuzz with firsthand accounts from passengers aboard the flight, praising the crew's efforts during the frightening experience. A notable post on X expressed gratitude towards the pilot and cabin crew, highlighting their role in the passengers' 'narrow escape'. Despite the widespread attention the incident has garnered, IndiGo has not yet issued an official statement or clarified the extent of the damage to the aircraft.
Preliminary assessments hint at potential damage to the aircraft's nose, likely caused by the severe weather conditions it encountered mid-flight. This incident underscores the unpredictable nature of air travel and the challenges crews face in ensuring passenger safety against the elements.
Reacting to the incident, IndiGo said, "IndiGo flight 6E 2142 operating from Delhi to Srinagar encountered sudden hailstorm en route. The flight and cabin crew followed established protocol and the aircraft landed safely in Srinagar. The airport team attended to the customers after arrival of the aircraft, prioritizing their well-being and comfort. The aircraft will be released post-necessary inspection and maintenance."
