As per preliminary information, the victim was picked up by some armed men from his house in Mura, located around 300 kms from the state capital.

Subsequently, they pumped bullets into him leaving him dead on the spot, the official said. Prima facie, it appears that the crime was committed by Naxals but it was yet to be verified, he said.

Security forces were rushed to the village, which is located deep inside the forest and the body was brought to Korar for post-mortem, he said. A case has been registered in this connection, the official said, adding that efforts were on to trace the assailants.
